Abi is the newest member of the Natural Beginnings team, but she is not new to caring for newborns and their families.
     After graduating from Texas A&M with an English degree, then Texas Woman’s University with a BS in Nursing, she started her career in 2002 as an RN in labor and delivery, newborn nursery, and mother/baby care. While working in the Texas Medical Center in  Houston, TX, she cared for a wide range of families, both low risk and medically complicated. But her favorite part of nursing was sitting with the new parents in their first moments of parenthood and hearing their story and answering all their questions. Breastfeeding and parenthood is part of our biology, how our bodies are designed…but this does not mean that it is easy! There are so many questions and worries that accompany this transition. 

 

     After taking time off to focus on her family and raising her two children, Abi made the exciting transition from bedside nursing to private practice with Natural Beginnings as an IBCLC.  She is thrilled to be supporting new parents in their home
as they navigate breastfeeding and life with a newborn. 

 

     As a new mom in this busy modern world, it is difficult to slow down, it is easy to feel isolated and alone, and social media can make us feel inadequate. Abi is passionate about partnering with new moms who are experiencing feeding difficulties, ensuring they feel confident in their choice to breastfeed, equipped to continue providing breastmilk if they return to work, and coordinate their schedules to maximize sleep! 

Whether you need a consult before delivery to feel prepared for the first few days with baby, or are home and having pain, supply concerns, or slow infant weight gain, Abi is here for you every step of the way.
