this is your first baby, you have
probably received
conflicting advice

Even
the professionals to whom

educator, to your baby's doctor,
can offer a different viewpoint
on the
very same topic!
You want the 'right' answers
for you and your baby!
... about everything, from your
newborns nursing patterns, how
to know
if baby is getting enough,
how to avoid and correct sore
breasts or
nipples, engorgement,
colic, or even how to choose the
right breast pump
for your needs.

VOLUNTEER HELP
~
Contact a La Leche
League Leader in your area
For
free help with your breastfeeding questions,
and for information about
local meetings ... call the
Volunteer Help Line below to find several
names and numbers in your
local area.
LLL
of Dallas County - (972) 669-5714 | For
prenatal or postpartum breastfeeding education and
ongoing, positive
support, we suggest your first contact be with
your local La Leche League Leader.
As a new or expectant mother, you can make valuable connections
with other pregnant women or nursing mothers at the
monthly La Leche League
meetings near you.
Nothing can
take the place of observing other
mothers with their own nursing
babies!
Being with experienced mothers while they parent their children
from nursing through weaning, is a learning opportunity. |
LLL
Leaders must complete a training program
which
qualifies them to counsel and assist mothers, and
they also have personal
experience as nursing mothers.
Offering up-to-date information, they are also
able to help you
to find solutions for a variety of typical or unusual circumstances.
They may be able to observe you and your baby breastfeeding -
at a
meeting, or in some circumstances, you might be able to arrange
to meet with
them to help you with a problem that needs personal
observation. LLL Leaders
will lend a trained, experienced 'ear'
when you have nursing questions or
concerns.

Women
can benefit greatly by learning from a mother, a sister or a
friend who has
comfortably & successfully breastfed her baby!
The information
received from these helpful women may be based on situations
and lifestyles
different from your own. Each new baby is a
unique individual, requiring his
own responses from his own mother.
We know that women are seeking evidence-based
information which
is up to date and has been proven by research.
|

Today,
since far fewer women have family members with any positive
nursing experiences.
It is common to find that establishing breastfeeding
is at times more complex
than they had anticipated.
Please seek peer support - contact
women who are comfortable with
breastfeeding and can share their experiences
with you.

When
their children were
babies, both Sharon Mattes
and Linda
Worzer were mother
volunteers with a local branch
of the respected
community-
based support organization,
La Leche League International.
Their interest in mothering and
their many thousands of volunteer
hours helped them to lay a good
foundation for their years of
vast experience in this field.
Although now their full-time
work is as Board
Certified
Professional Lactation Consultants
they'll be happy to answer
a simple breastfeeding
question for no charge.Due
to the complexity of
assessing the nature of
specific problems, online
counseling
is not provided.
If your question requires
problem solving,
and time-
intensive discussion, there
is a Phone Helping fee of
$35.00
per half hour. |
